Road Season Begins!

After long hours of winter base training, the App State Cycling team is anxiously anticipating their first road race of the season at NC State this weekend. It is a double road race weekend, with road races on Saturday and Sunday. Home Cyclocross Race

The ASU Cycling Team's home cyclocross race is this weekend in Charlotte, NC, at Veteran's Park on Sunday. The collegiate races will all go off at 3:15, at the same time as the singlespeed race of the NCCX series. Course set up is at 3 pm on Saturday if you can make it, and the team needs as much help as possible to take down the course after the races are over. Come on out to race, watch, and support the team!! Collegiate racers, don't forget to register at acccycling....

Collegiate Track National Championships

Rolling along the highway and passing 2 NASCAR semi trucks plastered with numbers, driver signatures, and more sponsors than the back of a cycling jersey (and Andre and Justin freaking out because of this) could only mean one thing-the ASU cycling team was on their way to Collegiate Track Nationals!!!

1st Meeting!

Our 1st team meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 25th at 7 pm in the Varsity Gym. The meeting will be held in the health promotions area of the gym. If you are facing the gym from Rivers St., go up the steps on the right side of the gym and then go down the stairs to your left after you enter the building. This meeting is for returning members, new members, and absolutely ANYONE who is curious about the team and wants to know more. Hope to see you there!

Its that time of year again! Any new comers please email the team at appstatecycling@gmail.com about some weekend riding and cookout plans or join our forum to find rides and such. Also anyone interested in joining the team should come check out our booth this Friday the 19th in the SRC from 8pm-12am.
On another note we have changed our home mountain bike race from October 1/2 to October 8/9.

Tour of America's Dairyland Wrap-Up:
Clayton Omer finished off the Tour of America's Dairyland by winning 2 out of the last 4 stages and Ashley James won the Stage 6 Individual Time Trial in Ripon, WI against some of the top professional women around the country. In the end Clayton Omer finished 8th place overall in the GC while teammate Zeb King took 13th overall.

Though school is out for summer, the App State Cycling Team is continuing to win races all over the country! Two weeks ago the group of Ashley James, Clayton Omer, Derek Whitescarver, Nina Laughlin and Zeb King took part in the People's Community Bank Omnium near Johnson City, TN. It consisted of a road race that finished up Roan Mtn on Saturday morning with a short time trial on Saturday afternoon and finally a criterium on Sunday. Starting tomorrow at 12 pm and lasting until 12 pm on Sunday, five riders from the ASU Cycling Team will be racing in the southeast's biggest team relay mountain bike race. The team will consist of Clayton Omer, Andrew Devier-Scott, Zeb King, James Wittwer and Derek Whitescarver. The team will be competing against 50 other teams from all across the southeast.
