Jan 24, 2017
The Appalachian State University Cycling Team took on the USAC Collegiate National Cyclocross Championships during our winter break. With an unpredictable range of weather berating the city of Hartford, Connecticut the stage was set for a variable and dramatic championship week. Our National CX drove up north to compete against all collegiate teams in hopes of reaching the top step on the podium. With a whole season of competition behind our crew they were ready to give it all.   ...

VTech Weekend and Upcoming Home Race

Oct 4, 2016
This weekend the Appalachian State University Cycling Team travelled to Blacksburg, VA in pursuit of locking down the ACCC team omnium. Although a previous race was cancelled due to heavy rain the day before Virginia Tech decided to ignore the adverse conditions and allow us to race both days. With a difficult schedule of three races on the first day and a long XC race on the second this would be a good test of fitness for the upcoming home conference championship race, and national...

NC State Cyclocross Weekend 11/14-11/15

Nov 16, 2015
The last weekend of the cyclocross season went out with a bang. We had a great turnout from our team, and they battled their way through the mud and over the barriers to get to that podium. This weekend was hosted by NC State, but was part of the bigger NCCX series, which is a statewide cyclocross race series open to the public. As a result, the race field sizes were much bigger than a normal collegiate event, and they even had food trucks on site which was a nice surprise.  Saturday’s...

Virginia Tech CX

Nov 10, 2015
This weekend started off on a chilly Saturday evening in a Blacksburg Virginia slopfest. Before the team precipitation had covered the area. The C men started off the day while the sun was still out. Rider Garrett Clark displayed his stellar technical abilities riding the difficult course efficiently enough to grab the top podium spot, with Charlie Shuford coming in a few spots behind him. Much later the B's took the course on what would be an exciting race. This race was set to start at...

Boone Town Throwdown

Nov 2, 2015
It was an incredible day of racing here in Boone on Sunday November 1st. This weekend instead of participating in our collegiate conference race the team stayed in Boone for one of the best races in the area. Boone Bike & Touring one of the teams awesome sponsors has one of the most consistently well attended, fun, and planned out race day. There were tons of team riders, alumni (some even wearing our kits!), fans, friend, and family. The crowd was awesome, free food and...

Home Mountain Bike Race Weekend 10/10-11/2015

Oct 13, 2015
The home mountain bike race is arguably the most looked-forward-to event of the season because of the huge turnout from our team, and the home course advantages. This year was no different. This weekend a total of 22 racers from App State attended, which is the most of any race so far. Saturday we had our cross country race up on Beech Mountain at Emerald Outback, with the highest elevation trails on the east coast. These trails were full of roots and the course was split up with a long gravel...

West Virginia MTB Weekend Recap

Sep 24, 2015
The App State Cycling team sent 10 riders to West Virginia last weekend for conference racing at Big Bear Lake.  It was not as mountainous as we’re used to, but there were some good descents nonetheless.Saturday started with a Super D gravity event.  It was run as a mass start, so the whole shot into the woods was critical.  Through the chaos, App State came out on top.  Hayden Miller and Matt Moosa ran one and two in the Men’s A.  In Men’s B, Jordan Bouldin and...
