Congratulations to Rebecca Tomaszewski! She won today's cross country race, and is the first rider to win an individual national title for Appalachian. With impressive results in all the races so far, the weekend is already off to a great start. Additionally, in Men's XC Alex Hannah came in 5th, Ryan Fawley came in 7th, Alex Ryan came in 14th, and Michael Koballa rounded out the top 25. They're almost here and Appalachian State Cycling is taking a full crew of racers up the mountain to Lees McRae College to take on teams from all over the country. You can find us at the campus of Lees McRae in Banner Elk for all of the races with the exception of Downhill, which is right down the street at Sugar Mountain. We are the conference champions!

Congratulations to everyone who raced and helped volunteer this past weekend. Not only did we run a great conference championship race, hosting five events for a more than full weekend, our points total was the highest for the weekend, and so that means we are the overall winners out of all DI and DII schools. Another weekend, another big showing by App State! The ACCC's first rainy mountain bike race of the year was hosted by our friends at Virginia Tech this past weekend. The very technical trails at Mountain Lake Resort became even trickier with the rain that rolled into the area Friday. Once again Appalachian State dominated the mountain bike scene traveling to the N.C. State races this past weekend. This weekend, Appalachian hosted their home mountain bike race at Dark Mountain in Wilksboro, which also served to kick off the 2008 Mountain season. The courses were great and the riders solid, and as expected Appalachian came out on top. In XC, Rebecca Tomaszewski easily dominated the Women's A field. The 2008-2009 school year is back in session and the Appalachian State University Cycling Team has rolled straight through summer and is ready for another year of Conference, and possibly even National, championships! Mountain bike season will start this coming weekend, September 6th and 7th, will Appalachian hosting the first race down at the Dark Mountain/Kerr Scott Dam trail system in Wilksboro. Even though school is on a break for the summer and everyone seems to be on vacation for the 4th of July, App State Cycling is still training and racing all over the country. The Appalachian State Cycling Team recently wrapped up another successful year with the completion of the road season this past weekend at the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Cycling Conference Championships. The championship races took place in nearby Winston-Salem and were hosted this by Wake Forest.
